XT-8380S and XT-8760S Hard Drive Capacitor Replacement

The 330MB and 760MB versions of the Maxtor XT-8000S series share a logic board in common. There are at least 2 board revisions. The 2nd revision differs by a few additional components reworked over top of the original design.

Logic Board Removal

Begin by removing the screws holding the retaining bracket.

Now remove the screws holding the logic board in place (Annotated Blue). Take a small flat screwdriver and gently pull back and remove the ribbon connectors (Annotated Red). You should be able to lift the board out, but it will be a tight fit.
